The University of California Los Angeles-Affiliated Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program participates in the yearly infectious disease fellowship match sponsored by the Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP) of the NRMP. Applicants are chosen a year in advance and those interested in the program are encouraged to begin the application process a full 1.5 years prior to the intended starting date.

NOTE: Although listed by ERAS as the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System Program, as of July 2008 this program is sponsored by the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The following are required for those applying to and entering the program:
- Graduation from an accredited medical school
- California State Medical License
- Completion of an Internal Medicine training program with board eligibility
- United States citizenship, permanent residency status or student visa
Interested individuals meeting the above requirements should submit applications through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) to the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System Program (ACGME# 1460521195). Application to our program requires submission of the following items:

- Completed application
- Copies of all National Board, FLEX, and USMLE scores
- Four letters:

(1) Dean's Letter from Medical School
(1) from Chairperson of the Department of Medicine during residency
(2) from individuals well acquainted with applicant's clinical activities and/or research experience

Once all documents have been received, your file will be reviewed by the Fellowship Committee. Interviews are arranged in Los Angeles and are conducted January through April. Interviews last a full day and include visits to the VA and Cedars Sinai Medical Centers. Interview days are selected to maximize the applicant's exposure to all aspects of our Program (Tuesdays and Fridays).
Contact the program director for more information about the application process or the program.
